“A journey of a thousand miles, always begins with a single step”. In 2013, I took the very first step of building a career in public health development work. In fact, I did not know what to expect. All I had was a deep desire to serve the underserved. I took what I will call ‘a step of faith’, hoping to find purpose and fulfilment. It feels like yesterday, but it’s over a decade already! I have had the privilege of serving several communities across Ghana through WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) projects, medical outreaches, nutrition programs, school health education programs among other interventions. Undeniably, there have been moments of confusion, anxiety and tough moments, but all together it has been nothing short of amazing!
I started this blog to share some of these experiences and reflections and to learn from people across the globe (blogs will be interactive). Are you passionate about development work and or public health? are you passionate about the health and development nexus? are you passionate about social justice and reaching out to the underserved? Are you interested in reading stories and learning more about the medical outreaches, WASH interventions etc.? Join me on this journey!
